We received a call from the mother of one-year-old Ibra. She told us since she got pregnant up until then she had never seen or received any help from Ibra's father and that she doesn't think she can handle the responsibilities alone anymore.
Mama Ibra further went to say that she had previously reported him to the authorities but nothing was done to help her. After some research the Helpline was able to track down the father who expressed that he had not seen mama Ibra for a while and had also been looking for her and their child to no avail for he wanted to provide for them.
One of our helpline counselor had a conversation with baba Ibra and explained all the procedures to be followed and reminded him of his responsibility as Ibra's father. The Social Welfare Officer was informed and a meeting was held in regards to how he would provide for his son. A consensus was reached on an undisclosed amount that he would be giving mama Ibra every month as child support.
Mama Ibra called us a couple of months later and told us that their agreement was still going strong.
